Fred Bagnall — Trombone

Trombone

Freddie B,” as the band calls him, grew up in Simsbury and currently lives in West Hartford. He joined the HJO in the early 2000s. He’s a graduate of Iowa State University and North Bennett Street School (Dept. of Stringed Keyboard Instrument Technology) where he developed his skills as a professional piano technician. Regarding his musical influences, Fred says, “I love so many musicians I don’t know where to begin. I was certainly influenced as a person and a musician from living in New Orleans for 6 years in the 80s and loved all the music in all the genres that exist there. I also studied classical guitar there with Elias Barreiro with whom I never learned so much in such a short time! I am also grateful for the experience of playing amongst all the great musicians that have played in the HJO over the years!”

Fred enjoys collecting and playing LPs and also follows motorsports. He loves to cook and enjoys discovering wines and beer from around the world. He shares his wife’s passion of horticulture and gardening. Together they have one daughter, Mia, who is adopted from China and is absolutely amazing!
